Guided Reading Level E
The amount of text is gradually increasing; most stories have three to eight lines of text per page and text placement varies. Stories are more complex; where repeated language patterns are used, they vary within the text. The ideas in stories are more subtle and may require more interpretation. Illustrations strongly support the story but contain several ideas; the text carries the story line. Problem solving is needed to figure out new words and to relate the illustrations and text.
